Four more suspects arrested over murder of Oyo Rep member ‘Sugar’

Four more suspects have been arrested by the police for the murder of House of Representatives member for Lagelu/Akinyele Federal Constituency, Temitope Olatoye.

ACP Frank Mba, the Force Public Relations Officer who confirmed the arrest of the suspects to journalists on Thursday, noted that efforts to apprehend other accomplices were in progress.

Meanwhile, the force had earlier arrested the chief whip of Oyo State House of Assembly Honourable Wasiu Olafisoye Akinmoyede in connection with the murder which occurred during the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections last Saturday.

Mba said:

“I can confirm that we are making steady progress in our investigation into the murder of Olatoye. We have five suspects in custody and the operation to arrest other suspects involved in the heinous crime is ongoing.

“The suspects are still in the custody of the Oyo State Police Command where they are helping the police to track down other accomplices.”

He added that the men may be transferred to Abuja next week.

Olatoye was rushed to the University College Hospital after he was shot on the head by gunmen.

He died at the Intensive Centre Unit while receiving treatment.

The deceased had contested the Oyo Central Senatorial district on the platform of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) during the February 23 Presidential and National Assembly elections before his death.
