A 22-year-old mechanic, Victor Anyaegbu, has been ordered to remanded in prison by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates Court for allegedly having carnal knowledge of a two-year-old girl.

The order was given by the presiding Magistrate, Olufunke Sule-Amzat under the legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The suspect who lives in Alafia Street in Orisumbare, Ejigbo, was charged with unlawful indecent sexual assault which was committed on March 3, at about 4 pm where he resides.

The Police Prosecutor, Benson Emuehi while speaking in court stated that Anyaegbu was arrested after the rape was reported at Ejigbo Police Division and was transferred to the Gender section, Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja for further investigation.

“He sexually assaulted his neighbour’s two-year-old daughter by forcefully fingering her anus in order to satisfy his sexual urge.”

The prosecutor told the court that the case was reported to the police at the Ejigbo Police Division by the victim’s father whose daughter was playing in the accused’s room while he (the father) was spraying insecticide in his own room.

“The defendant placed the victim on his legs and on the pretext of playing with her, he dipped his finger into her anus and was fingering her.”

“The victim cried out in pain which alerted the father and on entering the defendant room, he discovered blood coming out of his daughter’s anus, hence the report,” the prosecutor stated.

Emuerhi also disclosed that the act contravenes the provisions of Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

Magistrate Sule-Amzat remanded the suspect at the Kirikiri Prison and adjourned the case until April 18.
