Furies in Enugu as gunman shoot woman to death in Obollo Afor

There is furious reaction among residents of Obollo Afor in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State following the untimely death of one Mrs Chineye Eze a mother of two who was shoot death at close range by a gunman at a shrine where the woman was said to have gone to settle marriage issue with her husband Mr Ik Eze.

According to a resident to who gave account of how Chinenye was killed to The Oracle Today, the mother of two had a quarrel with her husband following which they consulted a native doctor in the neighborhood who recommended that both of them should go to the shrine to settle.

The resident who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that the husband demanded for divorce following the quarrel but Chineye said no because she cannot afford to take care of the two kids and there was no way for her to leave the kids for her husband so she wanted her marriage intact.

The resident said, the argument lasted until they consulted the native doctor but unfortunately for Chineye she didn’t know that her husband didn’t make proper arrangements prior to their visit to the shrine because the chief priest of the shrine was not aware of their coming.

He said on arrival to the shrine a gunman on sighting Chineye who was carrying one of her kids along brought out a gun and shoot her at close range and ran away living the woman in the pool of her own blood while her baby cried endlessly before the incident was noticed by people in the neighborhood.

He said that prior to the visit to the shrine Ik was caught making some suspicious phone calls and to make the matter worst, he did not do the proper thing to inform the chief priest of the shrine that he was coming to the shrine with his wife.

He added, “Normally, the chief priest must be in the know that people are coming to the shrine, but the man didn’t bother to notify the chief priest, so he just asked his wife to go there that he is on his way and on arrival she was shoot dead by a gunman.

Meanwhile Police operative have arrested Chinenye’s husband Ik Eze for the gruesome murder incident of his wife. Enugu State Police Public Relation Officer Supol Ebere Amaraizu who confirmed the incident to The Oracle Today informed that Police has commenced full scale investigation into the case.

In the same vein a community leader in Obollo Afor Prince Matthew Agu has called on the Police Command in Enugu to do everything within their powers to make sure that anybody whose is behind Chineye’s death has to face the full wrath of law.
