Aluminum Fabricator In Court For Allegedly Absconding With Customer’s N1.2m

The Police, on Thursday, arraigned a 35-year-old aluminium fabricator, Yusuf in a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court for allegedly absconding with a customer’s N1.2 million.

The defendant is facing a three-count of charge bordering on fraud, fraudulent conversion of money and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

The prosecutor, Insp. Ajaga Agboko told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 5, at about 1.00p.m at 5, Greenville St., Badore Road, Ajah Lagos.

He said the money was paid to the defendant to make aluminium windows.

The prosecutor said the defendant collected N1.2 million from a customer, Mr Gbolahan Oduneye, under false pretext to fabricate 48 big aluminium windows, 36 aluminium toilet windows and 12 aluminium kitchen windows.

Agboko further told the court that having been paid in full, the defendant only fabricated and delivered parts of the aluminium windows and absconded with the money.

“The defendant did some of the windows that Oduneye ordered for and refused to deliver the remaining, valued at N1.2millon.

“All efforts to reach the defendant yielded no results; Amuda who has been dodging the customer was later sighted in the area and was arrested,” he said.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 166 (d), 281 and 323 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State,2015.

Amuda, however, pleaded not guilty of the charges.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 166 (d) prescribes three months imprisonment, 281 stipulates three years imprisonment while Section 323 (1) carries seven years imprisonment for offenders.

The Magistrate, Mr T. A. Anjorin-Ajose, granted the defendant N200, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until April 5 for a mention.
