Court remands driver for allegedly stealing truck

A chief magistrate court in Gombe has remanded a 30-year-old driver over allegations of trespass and theft of a truck valued at N6 million.

The accused person, Sadiq Ahmed who resides in Kwadon town of Yamaltu Deba LGA of the state, was alleged to have on February 11 at about 3am trespassed into Al-Ansar filling station along Gombe-Kano road with fabricated keys and stole the truck with registration number XE 871 GME, parked in the filling station.

The police prosecuting officer, Sergeant Luka Elisha, informed the court that the truck was recovered in Potiskum LGA of Yobe State, with damaged steering, break light and gearbox all valued at N400,000.

However, when asked by the court, Ahmed pleaded not guilty to all charges preferred against him.

In view of his plea, Sergeant Elisha applied for adjournment to enable police conclude their investigation.

The presiding judge, Chief Magistrate Daurabo Sikkam, ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to March 7 for continuation of trial.
